- The plant will increase its production capacity from 110K to 200K a year of different steel products.
- This will entail an investment of more than 25 million dollars.
Prodac SA - Productos de Acero Cassadó, which manufactures and commercializes wire products and services, inaugurated its plant expansion project. This effort, which required an investment of more than 25 million dollars, marked the launching of a new galvanized production line for wire coatings that operates without lead, the first of its kind in Latin America.
The General Manager, Manuel Gallofré, said that this expansion consolidated Prodac’s position as a world-class supplier in the wire and derivates market. The company will export close to 200 product lines to 45 countries in the world.
“We are very proud to offer the Peruvian market the 150K project, which will increase our company’s installed capacity from 100 thousand tons a year to 200 thousand tons a year of wires and derivatives. In this way, we will be able to efficiently serve a market that consumes around 150 mil tons. These products are key inputs for the construction sector, extractive industries and mining in our country,” said Manuel Gallofré.
The new ecological production line meets high standards for environmental control and complies with national regulations. It is the only one of its kind in Latin America and fourth in the world. Its purpose is to reduce contamination by eliminating lead emissions from smoke, steam and sewage. “This new line produces 7 tons an hour of different steel derivative products. These productivity standards would have been impossible to achieve without the solid technological backing of our shareholder Bekaert, a global manufacturer of steel products,” he said.
Thanks to the country’s development, Prodac has achieved consistent growth of close to 25% a year on average and has consolidated its leadership of the market for wires, wire products and derivatives on the national, regional and global scenes. “Thanks to the regional capital that has been raised by Prodac, and the vast array of innovative artisans and tireless employees and partners, today we can sell our products in distant markets around the globe with the talent that Peruvians put into everything they do,” said General Manager Manuel Gallofre.
